Deborah has worked in the Internet industry for the last 16 years. She started out working in Print and Web Design for Elsevier Science (formerly Current Science Group) and Associated Northcliffe Digital (part of the Daily Mail and General Trust Group).
Her career took a more team and project management route before she held her first Senior Management Team position of Head of Design for AND. In her time here she launched exciting and high profile projects such as This Is London, Femail, the Metro network of sites and This Is Travel. Other brands she was responsible for the development and ongoing running of were This Is Money, the Daily Mail and Mail On Sunday website, UKplus and Loot. She also consulted with Northcliffe Newspapers in the launch of their ‘this is…’ network of sites which have wide coverage across the UK – www.thisisderbyshire.co.uk and www.thisisleicester.co.uk are a couple of examples of the many regional websites.
Deborah then moved to an ISP – now BT PlusNet – to help turn around the company’s fortunes in preparation for a float on AIM. She led the redesign and realignment of all the brands held by the Company, building into the business best practice approaches to web design and marrying this with giving the websites a keener design edge to them. Broadband sales took a steep upwards turn and the float on AIM in Summer 2004 was a success.
As Head of Business Management for PlusNet, Deborah then established a fully operational Project Office and stabilised the throughput of the Company’s mutli-disciplined Development teams (110 headcount covering Web Design, Content writing, Application Development and Infrastructure) through effective capacity planning of the wide programmes of work.
Deborah now works with a number of clients and her portfolio has included Cargotec, Corden Group, Smith of Derby, Nottingham City Arts, First Movement, DADG, Robeys, Draka UK, Plaser and Derbyshire County Council on their artsderbyshire website.
This portfolio of work has included heavyweight technical project management projects such as the design and specification of websites from the first phase of budget allocation through to the operational product; website migration projects and process restructures.
Other smaller scale projects have included a range of marketing projects such as social media strategy and tactical implementation, search engine optimisation and search engine marketing, e-marketing integration and the project management of new technology implementations.
Deborah is a motivational team and departmental manager, a Prince2 qualifed project manager, a Programme Manager, a Creative Director and a Web Consultant.
